Last year, Duran Duran delivered an epic performance at the 37th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. In this event, the group was finally inducted into the Rock Hall. Acclaimed actor Robert Downey Jr. delivered the introductory speech. The Hollywood star has been known to be the biggest Duran Duran fan and even had the group perform on his 50th birthday. Duran Duran has over 100 million records sold worldwide. They made their first breakthrough in 1981 upon releasing their self-titled debut album. The effort peaked at number 3 on the U.K. charts and number 10 on the U.S. Billboard 200. Eventually, the record, which spawned the singles “Planet Earth,” “Careless Memories,” and “Girls on Film,” was certified platinum in multiple countries.
After their incredible debut, the band released 14 more highly-acclaimed studio efforts. Duran Duran released their latest album, Future Past, in October 2021. The album debuted at number 3 on the U.K. mainstream and topped the Independent albums chart. The record also entered the charts in 19 other countries, making it a phenomenal worldwide hit.
